Ibizan Herbs, medicinal properties

Healthy mind and body, Mediterranean Lifestyle

We are pleased to inform you that we plan to add some herbs from the Mediterranean basin to our Mediterranean Diet Pet Food. These herbs are very popular on the island of Ibiza, and have multiple beneficial effects for the health of our pets.

The island of Ibiza is famous around the world for many reasons. It is a Spanish island, part of the archipelago of the Balearic Islands, along with Mallorca and Menorca. It is located in the Mediterranean Sea, enjoys an exceptional climate and has a botanical richness which is difficult to match, as the fields of this island are filled with numerous herbs and plants with medicinal properties.

Monks living there during the Middle Ages were arlready cultivating the wild herbs for their unique properties.

In our quest to improve the composition of our Mediterranean Diet Pet Food, our animal nutrition experts have decided to add some herbs and plants from the island, whose properties are very beneficial for the health of our furry friends. The following herbs were chosen:

Honey balm

This plant possesses some highly beneficial effects, especially for gastrointestinal problems and reducing nervousness, mental tension and anxiety.

It has sedative and relaxing effects on an emotional/mental level, making it useful in combating stress. It helps to regulate sleep-wake cycles, fights insomnia and promotes a stable and calm emotional state, as well as fighting tachycardia and palpitations by regulating the heart rate.

Its great properties in combating gastrointestinal problems such as spasms, gas, colitis, etc., are due to the great power to relieve flatulence that some of its components possess, contributing to the elimination of gases and the relaxing effects on smooth muscle.

Fennel

This plant is native to the Mediterranean basin and has many properties which help to maintain a healthy digestive system, such as impeding the formation of gases by preventing the fermentation of food during digestion.

It also has anti-inflammatory properties and is especially useful for treating problems with the urinary tract, as it eliminates toxins that could cause urinary tract infections, such as cystitis and oliguria.

Fennel improves liver function, has some analgesic and antimicrobial power and encourages the production of breast milk.

It boosts the immune system as it is rich in vitamin C, alanine and methionine. It has a great antioxidant power that fights free radicals that damage the health of the cells in tissues, organs, skin and hair.

useful for digestive problems, as it fights gases and vomiting, thanks to its flatulence-relieving and antispasmodic properties.
also has antiseptic and healing properties that are especially useful in the treatment of conditions affecting the mouth and throat.
power to fight viruses, fungi and bacteria thanks to its anti-infective power.
In addition, it boosts the immune system with its very powerful antioxidant effects, contained in flavonoids and polyphenols that effectively fight cell oxidation.

Mint

This plant has a powerful antioxidant effect that fights free radicals which damage cells, as well as helping to prevent degenerative diseases and boosting the immune system. In addition, it has antiseptic and expectorant effects that help to keep our furry friends’ respiratory systems healthy.
